This two-day course is designed to equip you with basic skills for handling emergencies in remote, outdoor environments. Whether you're an avid hiker, first responder, a search-and-rescue volunteer, or simply someone who enjoys the great outdoors, this course teaches you how to respond to accidents, injuries, and other emergencies in the wilderness. You’ll learn vital techniques like assessing and stabilizing common outdoor injuries, navigating difficult terrain, and using basic rescue tools. By the end of the course, you'll have the confidence to safely manage wilderness emergencies and potentially save lives, all while honing your problem-solving and survival skills in a real-life rescue exercise.
Important: Students must be in good physical health to attend the practical portion of this course. The practical exercise will be several hours outside on Sunday afternoon in a wilderness environment that could produce unfavorable conditions. This is a rain, snow, or sunshine event, therefore it is important students dress appropriately and have proper footwear.

Course Requirements:
- Participants do not have to hold an EMT/EMR certificate to attend this course. Scene support personnel are welcome to attend.
- Participants should wear appropriate outdoor clothing and footwear. No flip-flops, sandals, or open-toed shoes are allowed.
- Bring personal gear (water, snacks, backpack, hiking poles).
- Physical fitness to engage in strenuous outdoor activities.

Conduct Patient Assessments: Perform thorough primary and secondary assessments of injured individuals in remote locations.
Basic Navigation: Utilize maps, compasses, and GPS devices to navigate through challenging terrains and locate victims.
Basic Rescue Techniques: Apply appropriate methods for safely handling and evacuating injured persons.
Communicate and Coordinate: Work effectively as part of a team, utilizing clear communication and coordination strategies during rescue operations.
