Overview:

Drug abuse and addiction are significant issues that affect many aspects of society, including workplaces and critical sectors like first responders. The purpose of this training is to provide command staff with an overview of the essential tools and knowledge to effectively identify and mitigate drug-impaired personnel.

Course objectives:

  • Discuss the drug epidemic in Connecticut and how it applies to first responders

  • Discus why first responders gravitate toward drugs

  • Explain the drug categories and ways to detect impairment

  • Examine ways to mitigate and document drug impairment within an organization

Presenter: Dr. Keven McNeill is a former Connecticut Police Officer, Drug Recognition Expert Instructor, and Fire Service Instructor with twenty-six years of experience as a first responder.
